As an engineer, I truly appreciated Greenleaf’s attention to detail, their understanding of construction theory, and their willingness to take the time to do it right. And the dog? Well, I think he is still heartbroken over the absence of the crew that was willing to throw the Frisbee for him.

I cannot say enough good things about Greenleaf, George and Derrick. They were a complete pleasure to work with from start to finish. Extremely responsive, very honest and professional, and fantastic work. They kept to the schedule, and I really appreciated their input on several decisions – what was worth spending money on and where we could save costs. I was sad when the job was over that we wouldn’t get to see them anymore! I will absolutely use them for any future renovations, and strongly recommend them without reservation.

We recently completed a renovation of the back wing of our home with Greenleaf, and we are thrilled with the results. The renovation process is difficult under any circumstances, especially when you are living in the house, but Randy, our lead carpenter, took very good care of us and was extremely patient even when we were frustrated. Greenleaf does meticulous work, and our designer, Marci Lief, was terrifically creative, transforming some difficult spaces into gems.

Greenleaf replaced our large, 2-story city deck with a very attractive, sturdy, composite deck. Every step was done professionally, from an initial thorough meeting with their team to plan the process with our lifestyle in mind and continued with excellent work habits of the carpenters and supervisors. The site was left neat and clean each day, and work commenced and was completed on schedule. I would recommend them for any home improvement project.

Casey, our lead carpenter, was meticulous, down to the last detail. We appreciated the integrity and skill demonstrated by the entire team. We also were impressed with the creativity they brought to the project and that they worked hard to keep the scope within our budget. Highly recommended!

Our Approach To Kitchens
The Kitchen, Heart of the Home
Though every kitchen we do is unique, we always pay attention to the infrastructure as well as the finished surfaces. We often improve connection to other interior and exterior spaces and increase natural light. The kitchen is the heart of the home where people connect, and we show them the love they’re due.
01. Understand what’s driving the project for you.
What problem(s) are we trying to solve? What’s most important to you? What do you want your experience of the finished space to be?
02. Align scope and budget through an iterative process in partnership with you and the design team.
Our deep experience and thorough documentation help us eliminate as many later surprises as possible.
03. Finalize plans and design. Assemble the best team and materials for your project and answer as many questions as possible before we begin physical work.
04. Perform the physical work on site as efficiently and with as little disruption as possible, while guiding you through the entire process.
05. Provide follow-up consultation and any needed warranty service.
FAQ
It depends on the scale of the renovation, what spaces are affected, and your personal situation. We are well accustomed to working in occupied homes, containing our work within safe barriers, minimizing disruption as much as possible, and helping set up accommodations such as a temporary kitchen space.
We get that the job duration is a key consideration for our clients. We begin discussing an estimated duration early in the process and continue that conversation through regular updates throughout the project. In addition, we work hard well before we start our physical work on site to arrange permits, materials, and coordinate our trade partners so that once we do start, we are able to move through the project as efficiently as possible.
If we’re changing the footprint of the house, we’ll need an architect to create permit and construction plans. If your kitchen renovation involves multiple rooms, we recommend hiring a designer or architect. The smaller the scope, the less necessary a designer is if you’re confident in making your own selections and design decisions; in any scenario, we will provide detailed plans for the cabinets and basic plans for the kitchen. We work with a wide range of architects and designers and can refer someone we think would be the best fit for you and your home.
Yes! This comprises two categories: miscellaneous projects on your list and long-term plans for the house. Resolving miscellaneous projects is a key part of our commitment to transforming your experience of your home. Keeping long-term goals and projects in mind helps us to plan our work now to maximize the efficiency of those long-term projects. It’s helpful for us to know about your additional plans and projects early in our process so that we can plan our work most efficiently.
Yes, lots. Since 2007, a large portion of our work has been in older and historic homes in the Baltimore area. Our team is very experienced with plaster, irregular framing, antiquated wiring (e.g., knob and tube), tile mortar beds, historic masonry, wood windows, custom trim, and other challenges of older homes. Creative problem solving is often needed to integrate modern systems and building code with historic construction and character.
We work in Baltimore City and Baltimore County to the north of the City.
Yes, it’s just a cost/benefit calculation. We move/remove walls in many of our projects, working with a structural engineer and installing structural wood and steel members in wood and masonry walls.
Absolutely! We have many years of experience working with homeowners renovating for the first time, and we love guiding our clients through the process. From helping to define the scope and budget through guiding you on what to expect at every step through advice on post-project maintenance, we’re your partners on a journey that will transform your experience of your home.
Yes, definitely; we work with Baltimore City and County and CHAP permitting all the time and are happy to help. HOA/condo association approvals and/or MHT applications would be your responsibility, if applicable.
