TIMONIUM HISTORIC KITCHEN
Kitchen Renovation for Everyday Living & Entertaining
This kitchen renovation was designed for clients who love to entertain and needed a space that felt more open, functional, and welcoming. By removing a wall that once separated the kitchen from an underused dining room, Greenleaf created a spacious, connected layout with improved flow to the back deck—perfect for gathering with friends and family.
An Open Layout with Distinctive Details
The reimagined layout features two islands: a large entertaining island with custom metal legs and a second prep island near the coffee station and fireplace. The metal legs were recessed to sit flush with the finished floor, creating a seamless look and supporting the overhang without visual clutter.
At the heart of the kitchen, a custom arched opening frames the cooking area. Behind the range, oversized 2’x4′ wall tiles span four panels, creating a striking and elegant focal point. Above, a floating shelf combines warm wood on the sides with a quartz center that matches the countertops—one of many thoughtful touches that blend design and utility.
Cabinetry that Balances Customization and Practicality
The kitchen features a mix of semi-custom and fully custom cabinetry, showcasing how a high-end look can be achieved with smart design choices. The standout custom feature is the appliance garage, which includes frosted glass doors and in-drawer power—a great example of blending form and function.
Finishing Touches that Make a Difference
The first-floor hardwood floors were patched, seamlessly toothed in, and refinished after wall removal
A new Marvin window was installed behind the sink, with two operable casements and a fixed center panel to increase natural light and ventilation
Greenleaf also relocated the HVAC return and installed new lighting throughout the kitchen and adjacent spaces, enhancing both style and usability
This project reflects Greenleaf’s approach to renovation—thoughtful updates that feel effortless, custom touches that add value, and craftsmanship that honors both design and daily life.

As an engineer, I truly appreciated Greenleaf’s attention to detail, their understanding of construction theory, and their willingness to take the time to do it right. And the dog? Well, I think he is still heartbroken over the absence of the crew that was willing to throw the Frisbee for him.

I cannot say enough good things about Greenleaf, George and Derrick. They were a complete pleasure to work with from start to finish. Extremely responsive, very honest and professional, and fantastic work. They kept to the schedule, and I really appreciated their input on several decisions – what was worth spending money on and where we could save costs. I was sad when the job was over that we wouldn’t get to see them anymore! I will absolutely use them for any future renovations, and strongly recommend them without reservation.

We recently completed a renovation of the back wing of our home with Greenleaf, and we are thrilled with the results. The renovation process is difficult under any circumstances, especially when you are living in the house, but Randy, our lead carpenter, took very good care of us and was extremely patient even when we were frustrated. Greenleaf does meticulous work, and our designer, Marci Lief, was terrifically creative, transforming some difficult spaces into gems.

Greenleaf replaced our large, 2-story city deck with a very attractive, sturdy, composite deck. Every step was done professionally, from an initial thorough meeting with their team to plan the process with our lifestyle in mind and continued with excellent work habits of the carpenters and supervisors. The site was left neat and clean each day, and work commenced and was completed on schedule. I would recommend them for any home improvement project.
