HOMELAND KITCHEN

Greenleaf craftsmen collaborated with architect Andy Niazy and Lela Knight Designs on the first-floor renovation of this house in Homeland. The project was finished just in time for the clients to host family for Christmas that came all the way from Europe.

We transformed the way the entire first floor functioned by moving walls, floors, and entire rooms to create more open and customized living for the entire family.

Structural work included widening openings with new beams, removing walls, and building a new floor system. Windows were enlarged in brick openings, and a new space for a new powder room and butler’s pantry were created by framing a new floor over the old exterior stairs to the basement.

The newly renovated kitchen is complete with custom painted cabinetry, a cast iron farmhouse sink, and marble and wood butcherblock counters. The range hood, built with tongue-and groove-paneling, is flanked by marble shelves and a marble backsplash.

The original hardwood floors were patched and refinished, and a new tile “brick” floor was hand-set by Greenleaf craftsmen in a herringbone pattern.
