MONKTON KITCHEN ADDITION

In this farmhouse, kitchen designer Pat Caufield worked closely with Greenleaf craftsmen and the owner to build a new kitchen addition to replace an existing dark, low-ceilinged, and disconnected kitchen addition. Second Chance deconstructed the existing kitchen, and materials were donated for reuse. In its place, we built a new kitchen addition featuring a tall, cathedral ceiling clad in beadboard finish with an open cupola, skylights, and Andersen E Series doors and windows that maximize height, openness, and connection to the outside.

Numerous design features create a luxurious environment: flamed granite tile set in a Versailles pattern over a floor warming system, custom flush inset cabinetry, polished marble island and black granite perimeter countertops, and marble backsplash. A separate butler’s pantry provides not only floor-to-ceiling storage but also a place for the family dogs’ food and (automatically-filling!) water dishes.

The exterior was finished with a standing seam metal roof and Hardie lap siding with composite trim and integrates seamlessly with the existing house and surrounding deck.

We removed and reconfigured walls to […]
