Testimonials

The Greenleaf team are top-notch craftsmen who are highly attentive to quality and take the time and care to do things right. Beautiful work.

Smith – Terraces

Neighborhood: Mt. Washington

As an engineer I truly appreciated Greenleaf’s attention to detail, their understanding of construction theory and their willingness to take the time to do it right. And the dog? Well, I think he is still heartbroken over the absence of the crew that was willing to throw the Frisbee for him.

Earlbeck Residence

Neighborhood: Monkton

I cannot say enough good things about Greenleaf, George and Derrick. They were a complete pleasure to work with from start to finish. Extremely responsive, very honest and professional, and fantastic work. They kept to the schedule, and I really appreciated their input on several decisions – what was worth spending money on and where we could save costs. I was sad wen the job was over that we wouldn’t get to see them anymore! I will absolutely use them for any future renovations, and strongly recommend them without reservation.

Williamson/Travieso Residence

Neighborhood: Mt. Washington

We recently completed a renovation of the back wing of our home with Greenleaf, and we are thrilled with the results. The renovation process is difficult under any circumstances, especially when you are living in the house, but Randy, our lead carpenter, took very good care of us and was extremely patient even when we were frustrated. Greenleaf does meticulous work, and our designer, Marci Lief, was terrifically creative, transforming some difficult spaces into gems.

Sheff Residence

Neighborhood: Roland Park

I found Greenleaf Construction to be a reliable, knowledgeable, and cost-conscious roof deck construction company. They knew the best materials and had the carpentry skills to do the job the right way.

The Nyweide Residence

Neighborhood: Bolton Hill

Greenleaf replaced our large, 2 story city deck with a very attractive, sturdy, composite deck. Every step was done professionally, from an initial thorough meeting with their team to plan the process with our lifestyle in mind and continued excellent work habits of the carpenters and supervisors. The site was left neat and clean each day, work commenced and was completed on schedule. I would recommend them for any home improvement project.

We hired Greenleaf for a complete remodel of our home including kitchen, bathrooms, and removing walls to create an open architecture. George Brown and his team did an exceptional job, exceeding our expectations. Our project manager, Derrick, was professional, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. Casey, our lead carpenter, was meticulous, down to the last detail. We appreciated the integrity and skill demonstrated by the entire team. We also were impressed with the creativity they brought to the project and that they worked hard to keep the scope within our budget. Highly recommended!

FAQ

Can we live in our house during the renovation?

It depends on the scale of the renovation, what spaces are affected, and your personal situation. We are well accustomed to working in occupied homes, containing our work within safe barriers, minimizing disruption as much as possible, and helping set up accommodations such as a temporary kitchen space.

How long will my project take?

We get that the job duration is a key consideration for our clients. We begin discussing an estimated duration early in the process and continue that conversation through regular updates throughout the project. In addition, we work hard well before we start our physical work on site to arrange permits, materials, and coordinate our trade partners so that once we do start, we are able to move through the project as efficiently as possible.

Do I need a designer for my bathroom?

Bathrooms are smaller but complex spaces that require many design decisions: fixture and tile selections and design, transitions between different materials, vanity wall design, and more. A designer is definitely helpful, and we can refer someone we think would be the best fit for you and your home, but if you’re confident in making your own selections and design decisions, it’s not critical.

Can you take care of other projects while you’re here?

Yes! This comprises two categories: miscellaneous projects on your list and long-term plans for the house. Resolving miscellaneous projects is a key part of our commitment to transforming your experience of your home. Keeping long-term goals and projects in mind helps us to plan our work now to maximize the efficiency of those long-term projects. It’s helpful for us to know about your additional plans and projects early in our process so that we can plan our work most efficiently.

Do you have experience working in older/historic homes?

Yes, lots. Since 2007, a large portion of our work has been in older and historic homes in the Baltimore area. Our team is very experienced with plaster, irregular framing, antiquated wiring (e.g., knob and tube), tile mortar beds, historic masonry, wood windows, custom trim, and other challenges of older homes. Creative problem solving is often needed to integrate modern systems and building code with historic construction and character.

Do you work in my area?

We work in Baltimore City and Baltimore County to the north of the City.

Can we (re)move a wall?

Yes, it’s just a cost/benefit calculation. We move/remove walls in many of our projects, working with a structural engineer and installing structural wood and steel members in wood and masonry walls.

I’ve never done a renovation before. Can you help me through the process?

Absolutely! We have many years of experience working with homeowners renovating for the first time, and we love guiding our clients through the process. From helping to define the scope and budget through guiding you on what to expect at every step through advice on post-project maintenance, we’re your partners on a journey that will transform your experience of your home.

Can you help with City/County and historic permitting?

Yes, definitely; we work with Baltimore City and County and CHAP permitting all the time and are happy to help. HOA/condo association approvals and/or MHT applications would be your responsibility, if applicable.

Our Promise To You

Our team is devoted to turning your vision into reality, guiding you through every step of the construction or remodeling process with personalized attention. Choose us and experience a partnership that goes beyond construction — it’s a lasting commitment to you and your home.
